La région Nord-Pas de Calais tourne une page. Et vite. Finie l'activité minière, on a reboisé les terrils, on créé des nouveaux pôles de compétences orientés vers le high tech ou le médical, on bâtit un nouveau Louvre sur les vestiges d'un ancien carreau de mine. Et c'est très bien. La région s'engage dans un nouvel âge économique, social et culturel. Dans la troisième révolution industrielle.
Auparavant, il y a eu forcément la première et seconde révolution industrielle. Et chez nous, c'était entre autres la mine. Nos montagnes ne sont pas couvertes d'or blanc et ne sont pas des lieux de tourisme. Elles ont été créées de main d'homme pendant plus de 270 ans. Elles ont participé à l'élaboration d'une culture, de valeurs et d'un état d'esprit non seulement présent mais c'est celui là même qui nous donne le courage d'aborder la troisième révolution industrielle aujourd'hui.
En portraitisant d'anciens mineurs, les derniers encore vivants, j'ai voulu rendre hommage à ceux qui ont bâti nos montagnes.

Previously, there was necessarily the first and second industrial revolution. And for us, it was, among other things, the mine. Our mountains are not covered in white gold and are not places for tourism. They have been created by human hands for more than 270 years. They participated in the development of a culture, values and a state of mind that is not only present but is the very one that gives us the courage to tackle the third industrial revolution today.
By portraying former miners, the last ones still alive, I wanted to pay homage to those who built our mountains.
